Your feedback is incredibly important to us. They offer valuable insight into how our training is received and help us continuously improve. We’re committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment, especially when covering sensitive topics like mental health and suicide. Ensuring participants not only learn essential skills but also feel confident to be able to have open conversations and assist during a crisis. We love learning from our participants as their experience helps shape the way we support others.

Sarah you are a brilliant MHFA facilitator, you kept relatable, clear and even made the heavier topics easy to learn. You were listenable, personable and it was clear you were knowledgeable plus your own experiences in the field added so much value.

Meet Sarah

Sarah She/Her – Founder of Parachute Minds is currently living on Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung Country, studying a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and brings over nine years of experience in the mental health, youth, and community services sector. Her background includes roles in case management, suicide prevention, crisis intervention, counselling, external referrals, outreach, and facilitating training programs for young people and their families.

Motivated by her lived experience of suicide and a strong commitment to social justice, Sarah applies an anti-oppressive and trauma-informed approach to all her work. She is passionate about breaking down barriers to help-seeking and empowering parents, carers, educators, students, and community members to recognise the signs of mental health challenges, respond with compassion, and connect meaningfully, whether during a crisis or in everyday interactions.

When asked what she enjoys about this work, Sarah shared:

“I get to meet the best people. I feel grateful to be working in this space. We should be talking about how we feel. We should be talking about suicide and our diversities, sharing our experiences to raise awareness and offer different perspectives. When we don’t talk, that can be harmful. Silence can make people feel isolated, unheard, and alone.”

Sarah is proudly Neurodiverse and brings a unique, lived-experience lens to her work. Her personal experience with ASD, ADHD, and Dyslexia allows her to deeply connect with other neurodiverse individuals and families. She is committed to creating inclusive environments, facilitating understanding, and supporting the evolving needs of young people and their support networks.

Sarah also serves as a Lived Experience Speaker at community events, advocating for safe and open conversations around suicide, mental health, and inclusive practice. She is a passionate Deadly Ally and advocate for First Nations communities, people from culturally diverse backgrounds, the LGBTQIA+ community, people with (dis)abilities, and those navigating mental health challenges. Her mission is to promote early intervention, self-determination, and hope.
